An ode to the classical contemporaries of the early days of Spanish flamenco.
Composers Federico García Lorca and Manuel de Falla, both born and raised in the southern Spanish region of Andalusia, were great admirers of flamenco music. Both were inspired in their compositions by the warm sounds and exciting rhythms that are characteristic of this Spanish music style.
Spanish classical pianist Javier Perianes, one of the great classical musicians of our time with millions of streams on Spotify, asked Luna in 2018 to perform a musical program with him in the beautiful Beethoven Haus in Bonn (Germany) that is a hymn of praise to these composers. The German press wrote about this program:
‘Für große Begeisterung sorgte der “Flamenco”-Block von Luna Zegers und Juan Carlos Gómez, the Sängerin auch sympathisch und mit Bezügen zu de Falla und Lorca moderierte. Zegers ließ keinen im ausverkauften Beethoven-Haus unberührt.’ (General-Anzeiger Bonn, 25-01-2018)
‘The flamenco block of Luna Zegers and Juan Carlos Gomez provided great enthusiasm, which the singer also presented sympathetically and with references to De Falla and Lorca. Zegers left no one untouched in the sold-out Beethoven-Haus.’ (General-Anzeiger Bonn, 25-01-2018)
Today, Luna presents this program in duo format with flamenco guitarist Vicente Santiago.
